On every water heater, a warning label clearly outlines the dangers of improper installation. The warning label reads:
Warning - Explosion Hazard
If the temperature and pressure relief valve is dripping or leaking, have a licensed plumber repair it.
Do not plug valve.
Do not remove valve.

Failure to follow these instructions can result in death or explosion.
 

This warning label should be self-explanatory, but homeowners may choose to cut costs and avoid paying for a Licensed Plumber to address their water heater issues. Or, some plumbers may not be adequately licensed, or may not follow plumbing laws and regulations.

To ensure the safety and welfare of your family, we recommend that you Check The Credentials of the companies hired to work in your home. You may want to inquire about their experience, or even ask them for their license number.

Acquiring a plumbing or electrical license in the state of New Hampshire involves a Professional Career Choice:  

  • Four years of an apprenticeship with a licensed company registered with the State of New Hampshire to educate others;
  • Four years of schooling totaling 576 hours;
  • 8,000 hours on the job,training, while working and the passing of the Journeyman's Exam.
  • Finally, after holding a Journeyman's license for at least six months, a plumber can apply to take the exam for their Master Plumbing license.

It is your job to ensure the safety of your home and the safety of others by ensuring the individuals are licensed. Plumbing & Electrical Codes are put in place for your safety,  diseases have been prevented due to these codes. Those  performing electrical & plumbing services and not licensed may contaminate both municipal and private well water, or cause an electrial fire or catastrophe for your family. Are they insured for this type of situation?
